Diet Owners Manual for Waist Management

By Omar Maskori | June 12, 2007

I spent part of today’s sunny afternoon reading a hardcover copy of “You: On A Diet: The Owner’s Manual for Waist Management” and I thought I would give you a quick book review and share my thoughts on it.

If you haven’t heard already, this is a weight loss book by doctors Michael Roizen, and Mehmet Oz. It’s written in a humorous tone with plenty of comical illustrations… a good way to make the subject of diets and weight management easier to digest.

First I will cover the positive aspects of this book.

PROS:

And now the negative aspects…

The actual DIET they recommend in this book is riddled with problems.

CONS:

THE VERDICT:

I hate to say this but the diet they recommend is just a new spin on outdated weight loss information.

There is nothing cutting edge about the weight loss science in this book. In fact, a lot of it is just plain incorrect.

To lose weight you have to eat less calories than you burn up (but don’t starve yourself). And stay away from silly crash diets!

Wow great review! I saw that guy wearing a surgeon’s costume on Oprah! He seems more like a salesman than a doctor.

    Thanks Gregory!

Yes, wearing medical scrubs on Oprah (and everywhere else in the media) is just a gimmick to make the unsuspecting public think, “Hey these guys are doctors so everything they say must be right… I’ll buy their book right now!!”

Why else would a doctor wear his scrubs to a talk show… is he planning on performing surgery there?
